Distribution Provisions
What is it?
Distribution provisions specify how and when trust assets will be distributed to beneficiaries. This can include immediate distributions, staggered distributions at certain ages, or ongoing discretionary distributions.
Why is it important?
Well-crafted distribution provisions ensure your assets are used as you intend. You can protect young beneficiaries by delaying full distribution, provide for ongoing needs, or create incentives for certain behaviors.
Example Language
Upon the death of the Grantor, the Trustee shall distribute one-third of the beneficiary's share at age 25, one-third at age 30, and the remainder at age 35.
